GnomeMade Shows is an annual art and folk art market exhibited in private homes and in historic New Ulm locations. The original boutiques were created by a group of young women who wanted to share their passion for creating original art and selling hand crafted items while remaining home with their children.
The popular holiday market has, over the past 28 years, evolved to include emerging artists, local professional artists and several fine crafters. The elegant architecture of many of the locations homes is easily transformed into showcase venues for artists to sell their work.
GnomeMade Shows are held every fall in November, coinciding with the Minnesota DNR Deer Hunting Season Opener. Sometimes dubbed ‘Shopping Opener’, the weekend event is an opportunity for non-hunters to get a jump start on the holiday shopping season.
Marketing for this event is partially funded by the New Ulm Chamber and Visitors Bureau and in part by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council with an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State’s general fund.
